Boutique agency’s Giveback Program supports local community
As part of Gavin’s ongoing commitment to support organizations focused on building strong and healthy communities, the boutique branding and communications agency recently made a donation to its client, Crispus Attucks York, as part of the company’s Giveback Program which provides marketing grants for nonprofits and supports strong local communities.
Gavin’s Giveback Program was launched three years ago to support nonprofit clients in telling their story and using effective brand communications to engage audiences with greater purpose. As part of the Giveback Program, the agency commits 5% of agency fees back to the nonprofit to reinvest into their programs. To date, Gavin has made $12,722 in donations through its Giveback Program.
Crispus Attucks is a community-founded, non-profit organization in York that provides comprehensive education and human services, community development and affordable housing services to enhance the quality of life for a diverse population.
Focused on providing clients with unique brand creative and implementation strategies, Gavin produced new brand designs and messaging, marketing collateral and website enhancements that aided Crispus Attucks in its mission to help “individuals thrive and not just survive.”
Using Gavin’s very own comprehensive process known as Brandstorming, Gavin engaged stakeholders, employees and students to ensure the new brand simultaneously reflected the organization’s current standing in the community and its future plans for expansion and growth.
Brandstorming digs into the lens of various audiences by asking stakeholders to fully immerse themselves in the minds and emotions of their audiences to pinpoint the connections that bond them to the brand.
From visual references, review of cultural norms, story building and exploring personal connections at various moments in the target audience’s journey, our brandstorming process uncovers the emotional needs the brand must meet through the lens of the audience.
After the session, findings were compiled into emotive word clouds and mood boards to visualize the brand’s current impact and market position, providing a launching point for a new strategic brand platform with supporting visuals and messaging.
“We felt that Gavin’s brandstorming exercise allowed us to better understand our target audience and how to best reach and engage them. Gavin also went above and beyond in developing logo concepts for our rebrand. Gavin captured the sentiments of our team and was patient throughout the process,” said Crispus Attucks Development Director Megan Plumley. “In the end, we launched two great logos and taglines that complement each other and represent the compassion and innovation behind our mission. In addition, the comprehensive Communication Plan they provided, along with an updated website, stationery, collateral materials and a brand launch video provided us with an effective platform for the successful launch of the branding efforts.”
Crispus Attucks provides a variety of community services through its early learning center and charter school. The organization is dedicated to helping students work toward their high school diploma and earn skills related to their prospective careers or post-secondary education, in addition to revitalizing properties into housing units for low-income individuals and families.
“Together, we make a difference. Crispus Attucks has an enormous impact on our local community and our team was thrilled to help amplify their message and efforts with a donation through our Gavin Giveback Program – working to give back a portion of our agency fees on mission-driven projects our agency takes on with non-profits,” said Mandy Arnold, President/CEO of Gavin.
