York, Pa. (22 October 2014) — Gavin™ Advertising is thrilled to announce its work has been selected by The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts as a 2014 Davey Silver Award winner for its development and design of the WeCo logo.
The logo, which brands a four-block region of downtown York, Pa., as “WeCo,” or West of the Codorus Creek, is part of Gavin’s $15,000 commitment in donated services to support the continued growth of the downtown area and surrounding neighborhoods.
As part of the WeCo logo development, the Gavin team created a marketable brand identity currently used for the WeCo website and social media outlets. Plans are also in the making for signage throughout the neighborhood.
Downtown Inc. Executive Director, Sonia Huntzinger stated; “We are not at all surprised that Gavin has received this award. They’ve been a stellar partner in the development and propagation of this neighborhood brand and we are incredibly fortunate to have such an innovative and creative firm in this area of our downtown. Destination branding is a critical component of downtown revitalization efforts. Employing a ‘name it and they will come’ philosophy is paramount to fostering an identity and driving patronage to a commercial district. The creation of the WeCo brand and subsequent logo and creative style guides will serve this neighborhood micro-economy in a very positive way.”
